How to use the Currency Converter
- Enter the amount.
- Choose the currency you have (from) and the one you want (to).
- The converted amount and the one-unit rate appear instantly. Tap a popular rate to load that pair.
Formula
- All rates are fetched against a common base currency, so any pair can be converted.
Worked example: Sending money home from Dubai
If 1 AED = ₹24 (example rate), then 2,500 AED = 2,500 × 24 = ₹60,000 at the mid-market rate.
A remittance service may offer ₹23.70 per dirham instead, so you would receive ₹59,250 – the ₹750 difference is the provider’s margin.
Why the rate you get is different
The rates here are mid-market reference rates – the midpoint between buying and selling prices in global markets. Banks, card networks, airports and money changers add a spread or fee. When comparing providers, look at the final amount you will receive, not just the advertised fee.
