How to use the Age Calculator
- Select your date of birth.
- Leave Age on date as today, or change it to any date – for example the cut-off date in a job notification.
- Your age appears in years, months and days, along with totals and your next birthday.
Formula
- The calculator adds full years and months to your birth date, then counts the remaining days, so month lengths and leap years are handled correctly.
- If you were born on 29 February, your birthday in non-leap years is treated as 28 February.
Worked example: Age on a government job cut-off date
A recruitment notice says candidates must be under 30 years on 1 August 2026. Your date of birth is 15 March 1996.
From 15 March 1996 to 1 August 2026 is 30 years, 4 months and 17 days, so you would be over the limit unless an age relaxation applies to your category.
Where an exact age calculation helps
Many forms in India ask for age “as on” a particular date:
- Government job and competitive exam eligibility (UPSC, SSC, banking, state PSCs)
- School admission age limits for nursery and Class 1
- Insurance premiums and retirement planning
- Passport, driving licence and voter ID applications
